Jean McDonald

Jean McDonald taught first, second, and fifth grades during her 18 years with the Grants Pass School District. She graduated from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor of Science degree and is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher specializing in Early Childhood Education. After retiring from the classroom Jean supervised student teachers for Southern Oregon University’s MAT program for two years and is currently in her 2nd year as a mentor.
Jean continues training with New Teacher Center through the Oregon Department of Education. Her motivation to provide support and guidance for new educators began several years ago in her role as mentor within the Grants Pass School District. She strongly believes that our newest professionals are strongly gifted educators who represent the new face of our educational community.
When not working in education she and her husband Doug manage a small backyard vineyard, garden, hike, travel, and enjoy their time with children and grandchildren.
